Teomare S.A. is the shipping arm of a trading group whose story begins with sulphur for the Greek fertilizer industry.
01About us
Our company was established in August 2009 and is part of a group of companies with offices in Switzerland and Greece. The group’s activities started more than 50 years ago, originally as sulphur suppliers for the Greek fertilizer industries (imports and local distribution of the locally refined sulphur). Then came the other raw materials, phosphate rock, sulphuric acid and ammonia, and from there almost every kind of fertilizer: import and export, trade and distribution.
Teomare is the shipping arm of the group. At first the company only found tonnage for the group’s own cargoes, but it soon won the confidence of other major traders and charterers. Today, Teomare has more than 90% of its activities outside the group.
We are one of the few chartering offices in Europe with a very experienced short-sea department for mini bulkers, with over 250 fixtures at this size per year. We have also expanded our range of activities up to Panamax size, dealing with almost all types of dry cargo on a worldwide basis and, occasionally, with some liquefied commodities as well. Our specialty is still the fertilizer market, but it’s far from the only one we work in.
We watch the market and keep records of the freights we see. With so many cargoes and destinations that takes real effort, but it means we can give clients precise information when they ask.
Our brokers have built a large network of owners and charterers they work with closely, and good relations with many local and international brokering offices. We conclude fixtures across that whole range all year round, so whether you need a cargo or a vessel, we can help.

1970s
Sulphur for Greek fertilizer plants
The group begins as a supplier and local distributor of locally refined sulphur to the Greek fertilizer industry.
1980s–2000s
Raw materials, then every kind of fertilizer
Phosphate rock, sulphuric acid and ammonia are added, and the business grows into import, export, trade and distribution of fertilizers.
August 2009
Teomare S.A. is established
The group’s in-house chartering department becomes a company of its own in Athens, sourcing tonnage for group cargoes.
2010s
Clients beyond the group
Major traders and charterers outside the group start bringing their business to the desk, and the short-sea department grows past 250 fixtures a year.
Today
Mini bulker to Panamax, worldwide
More than 90% of activity is for third parties. The desk covers almost every dry cargo up to Panamax size, plus the occasional liquid commodity.

Part of the Teotrade group
The group has offices in Switzerland and Greece and has traded raw materials and fertilizers for more than fifty years. Our brokers work next to that trade every day, which gives them a trader’s understanding of the cargo.
